Looks like the land reform issue hit a note with the poor, disillusioned electorate whose lousy lives haven't improved one iota since this country become independant.
I guess the vain hope of imaginary free handouts counts for more than realistic goals of better education, reduced crime etc.

Ah well. Surprise surprise, it's Africa after all.
